2nd painting: Chowder
1I finally got around to finishing my second painting. I’m really having fun with these. Simple, fun, bold… I think they’ll be a fun series to have around the house.
I decided to just put the brush down when I got this far. The clothing in this cartoon has a pattern to it. Originally, I planned on painting in all the clothes to be true to the cartoon but I kind of liked it simpler. I may go back and fix it later if I change my mind, but I also think the simpler Chowder will fit in with the rest of the cartoon characters I plan on painting.
And yes, the colors in my photo are a bit off because I took the photo in a dark basement room. I just didn’t care enough to photoshop it to make it look right.
Next painting? I’m doing Roger from American Dad. I’m still doodling the ideas out.
C & G
1Years ago a few of us sat down and wrote notes to our future self. I just wrote a few calendar entries so I knew they’d pop up on my computer, phone and whatever else pulled in my calendar entries.
I was adding some meetings and deadlines to my calendar this morning when I saw this:
You know, it’s not as funny as I thought it would be
Does anyone know a great Cake & Gun store?
She’s so fancy
0Calin, one of my friend’s daughter, absolutely loves Fancy Nancy. She’s a little princess and we love most of the same things. I hate children, but her – I understand. We love pink, we love glitter and all things sparkly… you know what I’m saying.
So one of my crazy whims came along… I decided I’m going to paint her a Fancy Nancy painting for her room. Don’t ask me where these ideas come from. I’ve never painted before outside a 5 minute watercolor for a blog post or something like that. But somehow I decided one of my current projects needs to be this painting.
I’d sit in front of the T.V. and put a little paint here, a little there and then move on to another project. It was pretty light and breezy. About two weeks later I had something decent. It was decent enough for my first painting, I should say. I was just happy it was recognizable… and had plenty of glitter mixed in.
One thing I did learn: Don’t paint in a dim room in front of the TV. When you take a photo or take it into the light it looks completely different. No duh, right? Well I didn’t think of that when I started.

appletininini

So an update on the last post: Appletini is good to go. It tastes like an apple jolly rancher.
In other news, I’m back on my diet, which is making me not terribly happy. But I’ll cheer up in a few days when the pounds start falling off again. For now I’ll probably claw your eyes out, best to avoid the whole situation.
Margaritaville!
0I’m a big fan and huge consumer of crystal light. I probably drink 2-3 liters a day while I do things around the house. So I was excited yesterday to try something new when I saw these on the shelf at the grocery store:
There was also a mojito, but I don’t think drinking mint is appealing.
When I got home I quickly mixed some up after putting away my purchases. I haven’t tried appletini yet, but I did drink margarita flavor last night.
Margarita flavor tastes like over chlorinated pool water with a splash of 3rd grader pee.
Don’t buy. Sorry Crystal light, but no, this will not do.
Me done good?
0My boss emailed me a short a liner that said “you done good.”
I fully appreciate compliments and praise, but why when I read that email do I really see “that’ll do, pig”? Lol

2Lately I’ve really gotten into cooking again. My roommates make fun and say I’m getting back to my roots… most everything I’ve been making is very Polish or something a Wisconsinite would make.
The other day I just felt the need to make something so I turned a whole sack of potatoes into seasoned mash potatoes. I was trying to recreate my mother’s mashed potatoes and I got really close but they are still missing something. They’re really quite amazing but not quite what I remember. Regardless, by the end of my cook-a-thon I had about 10lbs of mashed ‘tapatoes’. What the heck do you do with 10lbs of tapatoes???
Last night I decided to turn them pierogi. I started mixing up and rolling out dough… do you know how many pierogi 10lbs of potatoes make? Well I can’t tell you either because I only got halfway through the batch after several hours of work. But considering each pierogi only needs like 1 tablespoon of filling I can definitely say it makes a whole heck of a lot!
Want to guess what I’m doing tonight? Yep, making more pierogi! I think some coworkers are going to be very happy with me on Monday when they get bags of pierogi on their desk to take home.
When I was finishing up last night a roommate came by and snatched one I had cooked (I couldn’t make all those and not have a few!) and said it was the best thing I ever made. I wasn’t sure if I should be complimented or insulted! Lol.
First try
0I spent the last several nights battling an ant invasion. The ants have overtaken the house and I decided to cower in my room for the evening. I still hadn’t broken open my watercolors. I had lightly dabbled once a few weeks ago to make a simple card for a coworker to give at a birthday party, but other than that I hadn’t done anything.
So I played around and decided to draw Frye. The last episode I had watched they were walking around imitating robots so they wouldn’t get caught trying to find Bender.
Water coloring is hard! This is definitely going to take a lot of practice. It does look better in person; my phone didn’t take the greatest picture.
So hungry. Diets suck. I just keep reminding myself it’s the first day of summer and I still can’t fit into that 2-piece bikini yet.
