hey big guy!

<rant>

How many times am I expected to hear “hey, big guy,” and not be expected to punch someone?

Why do people think it’s okay to call someone something based on appearance?  You don’t hear me walking up to you and say “oh hey, skinny guy!” or “hi, moderately chunky man!”

This isn’t gym class, we’re not picking teams, so you don’t have to describe me to separate me out from a crowd.  I know who you’re talking too when you look straight at me or when I’m the only one around,

‘Hi’, ‘Hello’ or ‘Hey’ is more than sufficient.  Or better yet, why not pick something to call someone that could be a compliment?  For instance, “Well HELLOOooo, Mr. Perfect Nose!”, “Howdy, tall guy”, or even “How ya’doin, muscley legs?”

Regardless, ‘big guy’ isn’t going to cut it, so knock it off.  I will cut you.

  1. Hm. I get it on a fairly regular basis, but it doesn’t bother me at all really.

  2. Here it’s usally “Hey, buddy.”

  3. I think you’re likely to hear it most from people who find it an appealing aspect of you.

    The worst-case scenario is that they’re being condescending or insincere, but otherwise they’re probably turned on to some degree, even if that’s not the phrase they’d use.

    There are whole fetish sites devoted to the topic of large men — of course, it’s not really appropriate to refer to someone’s physical delights openly unless they’re at a certain level of closeness with you. Perhaps you’re most offended by the license people feel they have to assume that level of closeness.

    I recommend responding, “Don’t call me ‘big guy’ until you’ve experienced it in bed.”

  4. P.S. My comment is best.

  5. you are such a dore bell with your “I will cut you” shit. Friggin ghetto fabulous princess over hur. No but seriously, cut a bitch if you have to, i’ll tell the cops you was at my house watching glee or someshit

  6. “Hey Candy-ass!”
    (did I just say that?)

  7. In Scotland it’s common to be called ‘Big Man’ by strangers, even if you’re not big. If you ever visit, don’t be offended if someone calls you it.
